Better Late Than Never

As mentioned… I am and have primarily been a bass player. I do love to play the bass. But recently I have transitioned into playing my Cole Clark acoustic guitar more. Sometimes you just need to sing and play…. while this is possible on the bass, a guitar just makes it easier to colour the ideas.

After all these years of hundreds and hundreds of unfinished song ideas. I decided that I didn’t need to collaborate in order to write. I decided, that I would set myself a goal and finish a song a week so that I could test them out on the unsuspecting public at the Elora Brewing Co. Open Mic night that happens every Sunday.

It was a “fly or die” attitude. Some songs, flew, some songs sputtered, and some obviously died. However, out of them all I got some constructive criticism, constructive positive encouragement and feedback along with some songs that I really like to play. As of this date, while typing, I have 16 songs that I really like to play and sing. About 30 are on the back-burner,, maybe the “never never” and a rather large and growing list that I desperately need to make time for in order to mold them into palatable ear worms.

For some reason ( a complete mental block) I had always thought I needed the “rest of the band” in order to finish off song idea’s. I realized that time is running out… I’m getting closer and closer to the end of the runway and “if it’s going to be, It’s up to me”. Of course I’m not alone in the process. I rely heavily on support and encouragement from my peers. It’s just that I need to write and get them done.

I sincerely hope that many people hear and feel a heartfelt connection to the stories and emotions that the melodies and lyrics present, and I hope that the recording process gives justice to the songs that I am so blessed and grateful to have transmitted into the material world.

“Better Late Than Never” is the working title and hopefully it will be volume 1 of many.
